~Review~
This is the final book in the Raven Cycle series and I can’t believe that it is over already! This was such a fantastic, yet unexpected ending to a spectacular series! There is so much I want to discuss, but little I can actually say without giving things away. The plot was entertaining, original, and fun, the characters well-developed, and the world-building was spectacular. I also enjoyed the writing and thought the cover was magnificent. Highly recommend reading!
Plot
Though the plot does move fairly slowly and doesn’t pick up speed until the very end, I was surprised that I was never uninterested in the lives of Blue and her Raven Boys. The entire series is rather slowly paced with only minor action scenes here or there and I loved this change of pace. I can’t believe the author was able to do this and still give us a unique, engaging story. This is one of the most original stories that I have read in a long time!
There are many twists and turns that I never saw coming and I couldn’t believe the ending. It really wasn’t what I expected, but don’t fret because it wasn’t bad. Each character gets their own ending as well and I will miss each and every one of them. I thought it was wrapped up very well.
“He was a book, and he was holding his final pages, and he wanted to get to the end to find out how it went, and he didn’t want it to be over.”
There is definitely emotion overload in this final book! I couldn’t believe how often I laughed or cried, especially towards the end!
I was totally fine with the romance in this book and the series as a whole. It is neatly woven into the overall plot and created a perfect story with passionate, interesting, and beautiful moments between the characters.
World-Building
I can’t believe it but we find out even more about Cabeswater! I was just dumbfounded and couldn’t believe what was revealed!
We also get to learn more about the talking trees as well as Blue’s father. I found this all to be very intriguing.
The detail was incredible, especially while Ronan was dreaming! The author was able to create the most vivid pictures, so throughout the entire book I felt as if I was with the characters.
Characters
I can’t begin to explain how much I am going to miss Blue, Gansey, Noah, Ronan, and Adam. 😦 I shed a few tears after I finished this book and I know that someday I will have to re-read this series just to visit them all again.
The development of all the characters was spectacular and I loved how all their stories ended. Ronan and Adam’s relationship surprised me, but I loved it!
“[Ronan’s] feelings for Adam were an oil spill; he’d let them overflow and now there wasn’t a damn place in the ocean that wouldn’t catch fire if he dropped a match.”
Honestly, I am pleased by where everyone ended up in the story, though I wish there would have been more of Noah in this one. Also, I thought Noah was going to get a better ending than he did, so that surprised me.
Writing
The writing is fantastic and though certain repeated words or phrases were few they still bothered me but didn’t distract from the story. At least I became more used to the writing style and I could see how beautifully written this book is.
Cover
I can’t even explain how much I love this cover! It is gorgeous!! Everything about it is perfect. I love the art! It’s also great that both the series name and book number are written on the spine!
Wow! Five stars? I guess I better start reading that series, huh?
Most definitely! It’s fantastic!
Great review!
I’m glad you enjoyed it and I definitely agree about the whole ending and Noah. Thanks for the spotlight!
Your Welcome! I always enjoy linking other quality reviews so people have more than just my opinion. I actually browse through quite a few before picking three or four to feature. 🙂
Great review. The book covers for this series are absolutely stunning and so atmospheric. I too would have liked to see more of Noah but in the end I did like the way his character arc came to an end. The characters steal the show for me in this series. I love the friendship, the romance and the character development that each of them experience.
Thank you for sharing my review of the book. 😀
Your Welcome! Yes, the characters are spectacular!
I absolutely loved this series. I am thinking of re reading it again so that I can review it on my blog. ❤️️
Great idea! I actually can’t wait to re-read it. Maybe I will next year! 🙂
